The most known butters are Cocoa and Shea, used in everything from body butters to soaps. Beside them, there are less known butters with amazing properties and benefits to the skincare products.
Today I would like to highlight the Bacuri butter, in particular.
Coming from the Brazilian Amazon Forest, this natural butter has a dark brown color and a natural fragrance often described as earthy or mossy.
Bacuri butter skin benefit
The local natives of Brazil use this butter as various home made remedies for: earache, rheumatism, arthritis or as a natural insect repellent.
When it comes to the natural beauty and skin care, Bacuri butter is a quality ingredient with a highly absorbency rate. Its antifungal and antibacterial properties, beside being firming, moisturizing, astringent and soothing make him a great choice for a variety of homemade skin care formulations.
About my Bacuri butter HERBAL Lip Fix balm
There are study shown that Bacuri Butter, rich in Lysine, has been proved to be beneficial for treating eczemas and herpes simplex infections. Also, in the recent years, a number of publications from natural resources show that specific medicinal plants are a good alternative to help with herpes simplex virus. (“Extracts and molecules from medicinal plants against herpes simplex viruses”– Journal of Global Innovation)
Starting from the literature research, I have selected a number of plants that were used in salves, tested with good results.
- Greater Celandine
- Slippery Elm
- Marshmallow Root Extract
- Lemon balm
The above medicinal plants were infused in Avocado and Olive oil, for couple of months. Then the resulting plant oil mixed with Bacuri butter and beeswax from our local farm “Abeilles de la Colline“. (by the way, they have a delicious Honey and Pollen!)
And ta – daaaaammmm! The balm is ready and you can buy it now from here!
