You may be most familiar with dandelion as a stubborn weed that never seems to leave your lawn or garden. However, in traditional herbal medicine practices, dandelion are revered for their wide array of medicinal properties.
Our Dandelion Soap adventure starts early Spring,  when our backyard is full of Dandelions.

I pick up the flowers around 10 AM in a sunny day and then I prepare them to be infused with oils and butters: olive oil, Shea butter, coconut oil.
But maybe this part deserves a new paragraph on its own! 🙂

What else do I make?

1.Coconut oil infused with Dandelion Flowers.

Tis is a hot infusion method, as coconut oil solidifies at room temperature. Such a beautiful Yellow color in the end.

2. Olive oil infused with Dandelion Flowers.

Cold infused in jars over several months.

3. Baraka Shea butter oil infused with Dandelion Flowers.

Again, this is is a hot infusion method, under controlled temperature. The final butter has a pale yellow color.

4. Dandelion flowers hydrosol

I have from Amazon this easy to use home distiller. I simply cover the Dandelion flowers with distilled water (I don’t use tap water to avoid contamination). And let the distiller work for several hours. However, you need a large volume of flowers to make just one litter of hydrosol, highly dense in nutrients.

5. Dandelion flowers glycerite

By this method I make a plant extract in vegetable glycerine(food grade, made in Canada).

Our soap with all ingredients infused with Dandelion extract

Awonderful reasons to infuse handcrafted soaps with herbs and botanicals is because of the nourishing benefits they may provide to your skin while you clean. We used the above different herbal preparations in the actual soap. And wait, there is more: we also add into the soap some dandelion root powder and a pure of actual flowers.

Scented with essential oil

Not only for a nice scent, but also to enhance the quality of the soap, we use only essentials oils: Ginger, Litsea Cubeba, Black Pepper,Orange Peel.
The high amount of limonene in the Orange Peel essential oil helps protect your skin from damage inflicted by pollution, smoke, and sun rays. Also improves the appearance of pores.
Ginger essential oil is astringent, anti-inflammatory with antiseptic properties.
Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil can work wonders for oily, acne-prone skin. It helps to balance sebum production as well as tone the epidermis and reduce the appearance of pores.
